The common terminology for accredited training is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or a Doctor of Medicine and Dentistry (DMD).

The above terminology is speaking of the same essential degree and the same education.

The professional field of dentistry offers a wide range of career options. Beyond private or general practice there are plenty of opportunities for research, education, training and international aid work, not to mention the number of specialist fields available.
